We are incredibly proud to share that Bracken Lane Primary Academy has been part of a special recording session to create a song about peace. Some of our yuear 5 and 6 pupils recently took part in a fantastic project led by Retford RotaKids, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Retford.

The project, inspired by Rotary International’s mission of Peace and Conflict Resolution, gave children a meaningful opportunity to express their hopes and dreams for a more peaceful world.

Children from eight schools across Retford came together to write and record an original song titled ‘Peace Like a Flower’. The lyrics and vocals feature the children’s own words —full of emotion, insight, and purpose. Their voices combine to share a powerful message of unity, compassion, and a call for change.

In February 2025, the children gathered at Ranby House School for a truly memorable recording session. With support from Andy Lockwood at Jibz TV, they not only recorded the song but also filmed a wonderful video that captures the heart of the project.

We are excited to share that ‘Peace Like a Flower’ is now available to stream and download on all major music platforms. You can also watch and share the video on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

This is a proud moment for our school and wider community. Projects like this show just how powerful young voices can be when they are given the chance to shine. At Bracken Lane, we are committed to helping our pupils grow not just as learners, but as thoughtful, caring individuals ready to make a difference.

We would love for you to watch the video and share it with friends, family, and anyone who could use a little more peace in their day.
