We believe that wearing uniform gives our children a sense of belonging and fosters a sense of community, as well as allowing children to develop a sense of pride in their appearance.

New uniform guidance

As you may be aware, government guidance on uniform has changed. The purpose of this guidance is to ensure the cost of school uniforms is reasonable and parents get the best value for money.

With this in mind, we have ensured that, if parents wish to purchase uniform items with the academy logo, our supplier gives the highest priority to cost and value for money, including the quality and durability of the garment.

However, we have also made changes to our uniform to also ensure that parents can buy all school uniform items (without logo) from any store.

If you have any questions about uniform, including where you can access second-hand uniform, please contact us.

Uniform supplier

Our uniform supplier is Mapac. Academy-branded uniform items can be purchased directly through the Mapac website.

  • White shirt with academy tie (years 1-6)

  • Charcoal grey trousers, skirt or pinafore
  • White, black or grey socks or tights

PE kit

All clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. This is especially important, as uniform items look similar and can easily be confused for another child’s. The academy cannot accept responsibility for any lost items.

Jewellery, hair and headwear

On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery to the academy, except for small stud earrings and watches (no Smart Watches).
All hair longer than shoulder length should be tied back. Excessive hairstyles are strongly discouraged and the decisions about the suitability of an individual style are the responsibility of the Principal, whose decision will be final. Shaved designs are not permitted, nor are multiple hair colours. All hair accessories should be modest and where possible, in the academy colours.

Earring guidance

We encourage parents to make use of the summer holidays for ear piercing. This will enable ears to heal before returning to the academy in September.

Rules for swimming and PE days

We recommend children come to school without earrings, on swimming and PE days, if not, the children must take them out and replace them themselves. Staff are not allowed to take out or put in earrings.

If children do have their ears pierced during term time:
• For School Swimming lessons through Notts County Council: Children cannot wear earrings for school swimming. We recommend that children come to school without earrings on a school swimming day, otherwise, they must be removed and replaced by the child. If earrings cannot be removed, then children will be excluded from school swimming lessons.
• For PE, earrings can be taped for six weeks from the date of piercing. They must be removed for PE lessons after this six week period – they can no longer be taped. The tape needs to be applied by families before school.
